The 36th Hong Kong Book Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place from July 15 to 21, 2026, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Running concurrently with the Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks, the three fairs are expected to bring together more than 770 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions, offering a comprehensive cultural, sports, and leisure experience. This year's theme, 'Cultural Legacy | Joyful Journeys,' aims to inspire readers to explore cultural heritage and innovation through reading and travel.
Jenny Koo, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, stated that the theme was selected to encourage exploration of traditional culture in modern society and to immerse visitors in cultural and eco-tourism. As part of its 60th anniversary, HKTDC Chairman Professor Frederick Ma will join Hong Kong artist Jane Lee (Messy Desk) and over 100 students to create a collaborative artwork depicting Hong Kong's transformation. The Book Fair will feature the 'World of Art & Culture' zone, including the 'World in Words, A Voyage of the Heart' exhibition with six interactive set-ups and over 200 books from around the world.
The fair will host eight seminar series, including the Renowned Writers Seminar Series featuring authors like Liu Zhenyun, Su Tong, Bi Feiyu, Liu Jiakun, and Louis Yu. The English and International Books Seminar Series will include British poet Luke Kennard and McKinsey's Joe Ngai. For the first time, the ASEAN Literary Festival will be introduced, with authors Eka Kurniawan and Clarissa Goenawan. Other speakers include Ronnie Chan, Jasper Tsang, and aerospace experts from Hong Kong universities.
The Cultural and Creative Space returns with pavilions from Fujian, Hangzhou, and Hong Kong exhibitor Tsi Ku Chai. Chinese Mainland Publishers will feature 49 organizations and about 20,000 publications, spotlighting Yunnan province. The Hong Kong Jockey Club will set up a themed exhibition area promoting healthy lifestyles.
The Sports and Leisure Expo will offer experiences like the 'Fit & Fearless Challenge' by Hong Kong Playground Association and showcase pickleball apparel. My Mini Zoo will exhibit interactive animal experiences. The World of Snacks will feature over 1,300 snacks from nearly 30 countries, including innovative products like freeze-dried candy and high-protein crisps.
