Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) announced results from drillhole CDH007 at its Cobrasco Project in Chocó, Colombia, confirming a significant extension of shallow copper-molybdenum mineralization to the northwest. The intercept of 292 meters at 0.48% copper, 62 ppm molybdenum, and 1.7 g/t silver from 44 meters depth closely mirrors the earlier CDH006 results, demonstrating continuity along a new section line.
CDH007 was the second hole drilled from a step-out pad located approximately 400 meters northwest of the previous drill pad (CDH002–CDH005) and 300 meters southwest of CDH001. It tested the northeastern direction along a SW-NE section line, with a steep 70-degree dip allowing vertical coverage of about 565 meters and horizontal extent of 205 meters. The mineralization is dominated by chalcopyrite within structurally prepared zones, transitioning from saprolite to phyllic and grey-green sericite alteration, with sporadic bornite. The hole intersected near-surface mineralization from 44 meters to 324 meters, where a fault zone terminates the mineralized host unit.
"We continue to rapidly advance a wide-spaced scout drilling programme and actively extend the limits of the Cobrasco Central system," said President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen. "Incredibly, after only 7 drillholes the Cu-Mo mineralization footprint already covers an area of 1,000 x 500m, continues to grow with each drillhole and remains open in all directions." The company has completed two additional step-out holes from the same pad—CDH008 (completed) and CDH009 (in progress)—with assays pending. Visible mineralization has been observed in both, suggesting further expansion.
The current drillhole-defined footprint now measures approximately 1,000 meters by 500 meters and remains open in all directions. High-grade intervals reported to date will be targeted with a second drill rig, preparations for which are underway. The ongoing scout drilling program has consistently returned significant porphyry Cu-Mo intercepts from surface or near-surface to depths of about 600 meters, indicating a potentially world-class copper porphyry complex with multiple intrusive phases and mineralization events at or near surface.
Geologically, CDH007 intersected rhyolitic porphyry with strong fracturing from 48 to 218 meters, containing a continuous high-grade interval punctuated by microdiorite xenoliths and fault zones. Magmatic breccias with high-grade assays greater than 1% copper occurred between 254 and 324 meters, exhibiting intense A-vein stockwork and chalcopyrite as fault gouge and fracture fill. The mineralized interval ends at a faulted contact at 324 meters, below which a dacitic-andesitic intrusive unit with lower grades extends to 436 meters, followed by a poorly mineralized granodiorite to tonalite intrusion to the end of the hole at 603 meters.
Francisco Montes, a qualified person under NI 43-101, reviewed and approved the technical information. Core sampling followed standard procedures, with samples sent to ALS preparation in Medellin and analysis in Lima, Peru.
