Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) reported another outstanding drill intercept from hole CDH006 at the Cobrasco Project in Chocó, Colombia. The hole, collared on a step-out platform approximately 400 meters northwest of previous drill pads, was designed to test the northwest extension of the mineralized system. Assay results from CDH006 confirm the continuity of the Cobrasco Central copper-molybdenum mineralization system to the northwest, with near-surface mineralization commencing at 38 meters and continuing through multiple anomalous intervals to a faulted contact at 808 meters.
Highlights from CDH006 include 486 meters at 0.42% copper, 51 ppm molybdenum, and 1.20 g/t silver, including 336 meters at 0.51% copper, 53 ppm molybdenum, and 1.50 g/t silver, and a higher-grade interval of 232 meters at 0.68% copper, 75 ppm molybdenum, and 2.0 g/t silver from 38 meters. Two additional holes, CDH007 and CDH008, have been completed from the same drill platform testing extensions to mineralization in northeast and north orientations, with assays pending.
Every drillhole completed to date at the Cobrasco Central zone has returned significant porphyry copper-molybdenum mineralization from surface or near-surface to depths of approximately 600 meters. The known mineralization footprint now covers a lateral extent of approximately 950 by 525 meters, remaining open in all directions. The company plans to continue systematic step-out drilling to define the limits of mineralization and test newly developed targets. A new program of surface mapping and geochemical sampling is being prepared to run concurrently, and preparations are underway for mobilization of a second drill rig to support infill drilling across the widely spaced scout holes.
Drillhole CDH006 (azimuth 225°, dip -60°, depth 898.90 meters) was the first hole from the new pad, testing a southwest section parallel to holes CDH001 and CDH004. Lithologies intersected correspond to felsic porphyries of rhyodacite composition, with mineralized intervals related to chalcopyrite sometimes replaced by bornite in intensely fractured rocks. Hydrothermal alteration is strong argillic in the upper portions, progressing to phyllic and grey-green-sericite (GGS) associated with the bulk of mineralization. Structural controls are evident, with a clear association between structural preparation of host units and resulting alteration and mineralization. The upper 46 meters are strongly weathered saprolites, with a low-angle fault structure marking the introduction of high copper and molybdenum grades (sample G517536: 46-48 meters at 4.6% copper, 1495 ppm molybdenum). A well-marked zone of magmatic brecciation in felsic porphyry units extends to 270 meters, characterized by increased A-veins and high copper-molybdenum grades, containing the standout intercept of 232 meters at 0.68% copper and 75 ppm molybdenum from 38 meters. A faulted contact at 808 meters marks the end of magmatic-hydrothermal brecciation and the start of a distinct polymictic intrusive breccia with decreased mineralization, although sporadic mineralized intervals continue to the end of hole.
