Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) has announced outstanding drill results from the Cobrasco Project in Choco, Colombia, confirming a substantial northwest extension of shallow mineralization. Drillhole CDH009, drilled from the same pad as previous holes, returned 502 meters at 0.40% copper and 73 ppm molybdenum from 38 meters downhole, including higher-grade intervals.
The results expand the drillhole-defined mineralized footprint at Cobrasco Central to approximately 1,200 meters by 550 meters, with the system remaining open in all directions. Mineralization persists to the end of the hole at 954 meters, though copper grades decrease at depth as sericite alteration transitions to lower-grade potassic alteration. Two additional holes, CDH010 and CDH011, have been completed from the same platform, with assays pending.
Joseph van den Elsen, President and CEO, commented: “The results of hole CDH009 validate this approach, significantly extending shallow, near-surface copper-molybdenum mineralization 350 meters to the northwest. Incredibly, all nine drill holes reported to-date have returned wide intervals of high-grade, near-surface Cu-Mo mineralization.” The company is preparing to mobilize a second diamond drill rig to expedite exploration of the Cobrasco Central system and test potential new porphyry centers.
Hole CDH009 was collared from the same pad as CDH006-CDH008, drilled northwest to bisect a wide untested area. It intersected a leached cap to 41 meters, with significant chalcopyrite mineralization below extending to 350 meters. Below that, mineralization is associated with halo veins and alteration fronts, persisting to the end of the hole. The highest grades occur in the upper 300 meters, closely linked to intensive sericite alteration. Two magmatic-hydrothermal breccias were encountered between 150-250 meters but did not reach the highest copper grades.
The company’s scout drilling program continues with a new platform located approximately 350 meters northwest of the previous site. All drill holes from the pad have intersected consistent intervals of shallow, moderate-to-high-grade Cu-Mo mineralization. For more details, see the original release and the Corporate Presentation.
