Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) reported outstanding drill intercepts from the Cobrasco Project in Choco, Colombia, with drillhole CDH008 confirming the northwest extension of the Cobrasco Central Cu-Mo porphyry system. The drillhole, completed to a depth of 652.25 meters, returned 272 meters grading 0.50% copper, 75 ppm molybdenum, and 1.92 g/t silver from 52 meters downhole, including 152 meters of 0.67% copper, 68 ppm molybdenum, and 1.90 g/t silver from 54 meters.
CDH008 was drilled due north to test the northern continuity of shallow mineralization at Cobrasco Central, intersecting multiple mineralized porphyry phases and magmatic-hydrothermal breccias. The near-surface mineralization begins at approximately 52 meters and is associated with potassic and sericite-altered breccias containing chalcopyrite and molybdenite. The mineralized footprint at Cobrasco now extends approximately 1,100 meters along strike and 550 meters laterally, remaining open in all directions.
Two additional drillholes from the same platform—CDH009 (completed, assays pending) and CDH010 (in progress)—are testing northwest and west-southwest extensions. Visual logging indicates sulphide mineralization consistent with the broader Cobrasco Central system. The company plans further large step-out holes targeting the northwestern and northern extensions.
President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen commented: “We continue to systematically advance a wide-spaced scout drilling programme, actively testing the limits of the Cobrasco system with wide fans of significant step-out drillholes. The system continues to grow with each successive drillhole, with the mineralization footprint already covering an area of ~1,100m x 550m, and results from CDH009 and CDH010 expected to further extend.” He added that surface geochemistry and field observations suggest mineralization continues to the north and northwest.
The company is preparing to mobilize a second diamond drilling rig to support the next phase of definition drilling at Cobrasco Central and new porphyry centers. The Cobrasco Project represents a significant copper-molybdenum discovery along the Andean porphyry belt in Colombia.
