ANGKOR RESOURCES CORP. (TSXV: ANK) announced the results of its Annual General Meeting held January 29, 2026, where shareholders voted in favor of all resolutions, including the sale of the company's 40% participating interest in the Evesham Macklin oil and gas lands in Saskatchewan. The transaction removes $3.8 million in debt and provides $1 million in net proceeds, allowing the company to focus resources on its Cambodian onshore Block VIII Project.
Over 99% of votes supported the sale, which was deemed a fundamental transaction requiring shareholder approval. The company's CEO, Delayne Weeks, stated, "On behalf of the Company, I would like to thank shareholders for their participation and continuing support. We welcome Dr. Johnson to the Board." The original Letter of Intent outlines the transaction details.
Dr. David Johnson, a geoscientist with over 40 years of experience in petroleum, natural gas, and helium exploration across multiple continents, was appointed to the Board. His background includes roles at Shell, ExxonMobil, Husky Energy, and the Kuwait Oil Company. Dr. Johnson holds a BSc in Geology from the University of Calgary and a PhD in Geological Oceanography from Dalhousie University. His expertise is expected to guide the company's exploration efforts in Cambodia.
The AGM also saw the retirement of long-time directors Steve Cochrane and Scott Smith, whose contributions were acknowledged by the company. The board now comprises Russ Tynan, Mike Weeks, Terry Mereniuk, Ken Booth, Grant T. Smith, and Dr. David Johnson.
Angkor Resources is shifting its strategic focus to Cambodia, where its subsidiary EnerCam Resources holds an onshore oil and gas license for Block VIII, covering over 4,095 square kilometres. Having completed seismic surveys in 2025, the company aims to identify drill targets and advance to drilling Cambodia's first onshore exploratory wells. The company's mineral subsidiary, Angkor Gold Corp., holds two exploration licenses with copper and gold prospects.
Shareholders also reappointed Davidson & Company LLP as auditors and approved the company's rolling stock option plan. With the asset sale approved, Angkor Resources is poised to concentrate on its Cambodian ventures, seeking to unlock value from its mineral and energy assets.
