BOXABL Inc. (NASDAQ: BXBL), a factory-built construction company known for its foldable housing units, has unveiled a new concept that could extend its manufacturing capabilities to the data center industry. The Server Pod concept, announced as a design study, explores factory-assembled enclosures intended to house AI and cloud computing infrastructure. The company is clear that this is not a product currently in production but a demonstration of its factory capabilities and an invitation for collaboration with data center developers, operators, and equipment vendors.
The concept includes configurations ranging from a 10-foot Server Pod with an estimated 0.5 petaflop capacity to a 2,500-square-foot Server Tron envisioned at 16 petaflops per second. Actual specifications, engineering details, cooling systems, and equipment would be customized in partnership with customers. This modular approach could potentially address the significant challenges of speed, cost, and labor that the data center industry faces. According to JLL's 2026 Global Data Center Market Outlook, which BOXABL cites, the sector is projected to grow at a 14% compound annual growth rate through 2030, with approximately 100 GW of new capacity expected to come online between 2026 and 2030, requiring up to $3 trillion in total investment.
BOXABL is actively seeking engagement with data center developers, hyperscalers, colocation providers, and equipment manufacturers interested in contracting the company to design and manufacture custom modular structures. However, the company notes there is no assurance that any agreements will be reached or that any Server Pod or similar product will be built. This move aligns with BOXABL's broader mission of transforming construction through factory-built, repeatable designs, which they believe can offer faster deployment and cost efficiencies compared to traditional building methods.
The announcement comes as BOXABL continues to expand its footprint beyond residential housing. Since its inception in 2017, the company has raised over $230 million from more than 50,000 investors. Its flagship product, the Casita, is a 361-square-foot studio that unfolds on-site in under an hour. The company also offers the smaller Baby Box and is developing stackable modules for larger residential buildings. BOXABL began trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "BXBL" on July 20, 2026, following its business combination with FG Merger II Corp.
The Server Pod concept represents a potential new revenue stream and a way to leverage BOXABL's manufacturing expertise in a rapidly growing market. As data center demand surges, driven by AI and cloud computing, the need for faster, more cost-effective construction methods becomes critical. BOXABL's factory-built approach could offer a solution, but it remains to be seen whether the company can secure partnerships and bring the concept to market. For now, the initiative serves as a strategic move to highlight its capabilities and open dialogues with industry players.
