TORONTO, ON – The 2026 Purina Animal Hall of Fame™ has inducted two extraordinary dogs, celebrating their remarkable bravery and unwavering devotion in protecting their owners during life-threatening emergencies. The honorees, Chloe from Nipigon, Ontario, and Timber from Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia, demonstrated incredible instinct, courage, and loyalty in the face of danger.
Chloe, a family dog, is being recognized for her heroic actions when a black bear forced its way into her family's home. The bear, which had broken through a door, was confronted by Chloe, who bravely stood her ground and alerted her owner. Her quick thinking and fearless demeanor helped confine the animal to the basement, where it remained until police arrived. The family credits Chloe with preventing a potentially disastrous encounter, as her actions ensured everyone's safety until help came.
Timber, a dog from Nova Scotia, is being honored for his life-saving role in a frozen lake incident. When his owner fell through the ice, Timber pulled forward with all his might, his harness catching on branches, providing the leverage his owner needed to climb out of the freezing water. His owner credits Timber with saving her life, noting that without his strength and determination, the outcome could have been fatal.
These stories are a testament to the incredible bond between humans and their canine companions. The Purina Animal Hall of Fame, established in 1968, has honored over 200 animals for their acts of heroism, recognizing pets who have gone above and beyond to protect, save, or significantly improve the lives of their owners. This year's inductees join a distinguished group of animals whose stories inspire and remind us of the profound impact pets have on our lives.
