The Chapel of the Holy Chalice of the Valencia Cathedral hosted the official presentation and blessing of the Pilgrimage Credentials of The Way of the Holy Grail on Tuesday, February 20, 2026. The event, held at 11:30 a.m., was part of the First Diocesan Youth Pilgrimage of the Holy Chalice, organized within the framework of the III Jubilee Year granted by the Holy See. The ceremony included the delivery of 500 pilgrimage credentials provided by the City Council of Massamagrell, reaffirming local institutional support for this cultural and spiritual itinerary.
Ms. María Sebastián, delegate of Youth of the Diocese of Valencia, and Mr. Sergio Pelarda, advisor of the same delegation, promoted this initiative to bring young generations closer to the Holy Chalice as a symbol of faith, history, and encounter. The credentials were solemnly blessed by Mr. Álvaro Almenar, Canon Custodian of the Holy Chalice, marking the beginning of the new diocesan pilgrimage. Mr. José Verdeguer, Canon of Heritage of the Valencia Cathedral, expressed gratitude for the research and dissemination work of The Way of the Holy Grail.
Dr. Ana Mafé García, president of the Cultural Association The Way of the Holy Grail, highlighted the credentials as instruments of welcome, guidance, and recognition for contemporary pilgrims. Mr. Francisco Gómez Laserna, mayor-president of the City Council of Massamagrell, emphasized the municipality's commitment to the cultural and spiritual heritage linked to the Holy Chalice. Attendees included Mr. José Ribes, advisor of the Cultural Association and parish priest of Massamagrell; Mr. Miquel Bailach, member of The Way of the Holy Grail and general secretary of the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP); Dr. Fernando Molina Pons, vice president of the International Scientific Commission for Studies of the Holy Grail; Ms. Carmen de la Cagiga, president of the Union of Hispanic Nations (UNAHIS); Ms. Liuba Daniel, international director of The Way of the Holy Grail; Dr. Danielle Pimentel de Oliveira, member of the International Scientific Commission; and Mr. Jesús Gimeno Peris, secretary of the Cultural Association.
Support also came from Mr. Víctor Pérez, president of FOTUR, and the Provincial Council of Valencia through tourism deputy Mr. Pedro Cuesta. The event demonstrated growing interest in The Way of the Holy Grail as a cultural, spiritual, and heritage itinerary connecting people with their roots and identity. The First Diocesan Youth Pilgrimage of the Holy Chalice offers young people a transformative experience walking towards Valencia Cathedral, combining spirituality, heritage, nature, and coexistence. During April 2026, youth can register and receive their Pilgrimage Credential to participate in this historic event.
