The Atlanta Community Food Bank announced a $400,000 donation from Ciara Wilson, Russell Wilson, and their Why Not You Foundation to support food distribution efforts across metro Atlanta and North Georgia. The contribution will help strengthen the Food Bank's capacity to source, store, and distribute nutritious food to partner agencies serving children, families, seniors, and partner agencies throughout the region.
Kyle Waide, President and CEO of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, expressed gratitude for the donation, stating, 'This gift comes at a time of unprecedented need. Food insecurity is spiking across our region, with demand for our services now 70% higher than it was just three and a half years ago. Families across Atlanta are struggling with the relentless pressure of rising costs, and they need our collective help more than ever before.'
The Food Bank serves more than 700 community-based nonprofit partners across 29 counties. In 2023, it distributed its one billionth meal. The Wilsons' donation is expected to make an immediate impact by enabling the Food Bank to procure and distribute additional food to those in need. The Why Not You Foundation, founded by Ciara and Russell Wilson, focuses on empowering youth and fighting poverty, and this donation aligns with its mission to support communities.
The Food Bank encourages others in the community who are able to give to join in supporting neighbors across metro Atlanta and North Georgia. Donations of any size help provide nutritious food to families who are struggling to keep meals on the table.
