Critical Infrastructure Technologies Ltd. (CSE: CTTT) announced an expanded Memorandum of Understanding with Babcock International Group to co-develop and build a rapidly deployable platform integrating 5G communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), and counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) capabilities. The original MOU, signed at the DSEI expo in London in September 2025, focused exclusively on supplying 50 Nexus 20 platforms to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence. The new agreement extends collaboration to all of Europe and Southeast Asia, reflecting significant opportunities for the Nexus 20 platform across these regions.
“It is fantastic to expand the scope of collaboration with Babcock and to now work together to promote the Nexus 20 into the new regions added,” said Brenton Scott, CEO of CiTech. “With our first Nexus 20 due to arrive in the EU in April 2026 for whole of region demonstrations, we are looking forward to 2026 with confidence.” The Nexus 20 is a self-deploying platform designed to support radio equipment including LTE and various technological payloads such as surveillance and anti-drone systems. It aims to provide critical mobile telecommunications for sectors including mining, defence, border security, and emergency services.
Babcock International Group is a FTSE 100 international defence company operating in the UK, Australasia, Canada, France, and South Africa, with exports to additional markets. The partnership leverages Babcock’s extensive defence capabilities and CiTech’s patented autonomous, high-capacity mobile communications technology. The expanded MOU underscores the growing geopolitical importance of integrated communications and surveillance systems, particularly in regions facing security challenges from drones and other asymmetric threats.
The announcement highlights the strategic value of rapidly deployable platforms that combine 5G connectivity with ISR and counter-UAS capabilities. As European and Southeast Asian nations modernize their defence and security infrastructure, the Nexus 20 offers a versatile solution for both military and civilian applications. The platform’s ability to self-deploy and operate in various situations addresses key limitations of current rapidly deployable communication solutions, including tower strength and deployment speed.
CiTech, listed on the CSE with operations in Perth, Western Australia, has completed the research and development phase and is commercializing its first products. The company aims to deliver essential services to where they are needed most, targeting mining, defence, border security, and emergency services. The expanded collaboration with Babcock positions CiTech to capture a larger share of the global market for autonomous mobile communications platforms, particularly in regions with high demand for integrated security solutions.
