The 35th Education & Careers Expo, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place from 22 to 25 January at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event, open to the public with free admission, brings together over 860 organisations from 23 countries and regions, including government bureaux, tertiary institutions, and education centres, to provide comprehensive information on further studies and career opportunities.
This year's Expo introduces an upgraded "CV Clinic" featuring six services, including one-to-one CV consultations, professional CV portrait photography by Jobsdb, Personal Colour Analysis, and the 16 Personality Types Magic Quiz. These services aim to help job seekers gain deeper insights into their strengths and plan their career paths with greater clarity. Smiley Lam, Assistant Executive Director of the HKTDC, highlighted the theme "Go with Your Passion, Go Beyond Limits," noting that the four themed days—Civil Servants & Public Services, Next Gen Technologies, Healthcare & Wellness, and Greater Bay Area Opportunities—align with social development and market needs. The Expo also supports Hong Kong's role as an international education hub by attracting non-local students.
The "Education" section is divided into four zones: Local Studies, Non-Hong Kong Education, Lifelong Learning, and Youth Zone. Highlights include the SOPHIE 8x solar car model by the Vocational Training Council (VTC), winner of the World Solar Challenge, and the AI Tower Crane Simulator by the Hong Kong Institute of Construction. Institutions introduce new programmes in robotics and automation engineering to meet global demand for tech talent. The Non-Hong Kong Education zone offers study abroad advisory services from consulates and overseas universities covering Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Belt and Road countries.
The "Careers" and "Recruitment Square" zones feature over 30 government departments and public organisations, including the HKTDC, Airport Authority, Education Bureau, and Civil Service Bureau. Some employers conduct onsite interviews. The Expo hosts over 100 activities, including seminars by industry experts and star speakers such as singer-songwriter Serrini, film directors Ho Cheuk-tin and Sunny Chan, and radio DJ "Ah Jeng." Themed day highlights include a seminar by the Civil Service Bureau on 22 January, discussions on technology and smart city development on 23 January, and sessions on healthcare and wellness on 24 January, featuring registered expressive arts therapist Aleck Kwong. On 25 January, the Greater Bay Area Opportunities theme includes a talk by Calvin Tse on entrepreneurship.
