GatherGrounds Resorts has successfully acquired The Oaks Campground, a 155-acre outdoor destination in Munith, Michigan, marking the start of a new chapter with planned upgrades to enhance the visitor experience. The campground, located adjacent to the Waterloo State Recreation Area—the largest state park in Michigan's Lower Peninsula—offers guests direct access to extensive natural landscapes and outdoor activities. It is also just eight minutes from the public boat ramp at Portage Lake, a popular all-sports lake, and borders the Haehnle Bird Sanctuary, home to diverse bird species frequently spotted on the property.
Under new management, GatherGrounds Resorts plans to revitalize approximately 120 acres of wooded riding and recreation trails suitable for mountain biking, golf cart rides, horseback riding, and hiking. The beach area of the on-site swimming lake will be renovated with new lounge chairs and a sand volleyball court. A Wibit inflatable waterpark is also planned for installation, creating a family-friendly attraction for all ages. The campground features a second lake dedicated solely to fishing, equipped with multiple docks, along with an on-site camp store offering firewood, ice, and scooped ice cream, and two spacious bathhouses with showers and laundry facilities.
Looking ahead, GatherGrounds Resorts aims to introduce more modern, family-oriented amenities and expand weekend activities with a comprehensive schedule of family-friendly events to build community connections. The company will keep guests and the local community informed with regular updates as planning and development progress. Returning campers and new visitors are welcome starting with the 2026 season.
