Grafton Resources Inc. (CSE: GFT; OTCQB: GFTFF; FSE: K8L0) announced that Expert Geophysics Surveys Inc. has initiated a planned 80 line-kilometre mobile magnetotelluric (MobileMT) heliborne survey at the Alicahue Gold-Copper Project in Valparaiso, Chile. The survey is expected to cover the entire property within one day, with interpreted results anticipated in March 2026.
MobileMT is a leading geophysical technology that aids in identifying subsurface geologic structures, alteration halos, and contrasting lithologies. Complementary VLF-EM data, which provides near-surface electromagnetic information, should yield increased resolution of shallow features. Combining these methods is expected to identify deep-seated faults, lithological contacts, and structures controlling mineral systems from surface to a depth of approximately 1 km to 2 km, depending on the conductivity distribution of the local geology.
Campbell Smyth, Chairman of Grafton Resources, commented: "We expect the MobileMT data will provide a three-dimensional image of the Alicahue Project area. We hope the survey will assist us in tracing the outline of a possible porphyry centre in the southeast concession. Further we hope the survey helps us to vector towards the origin of the IOCG vein systems and possible feeder zones to gold and copper vein mineralization mapped in the area. MobileMT is known for identifying areas of electrically conductive sulphides potentially linked to mineralized porphyry intrusive centres, and resistive bodies representative of intrusions."
The Alicahue Gold-Copper Project is located in a region known for significant mineral potential. The use of advanced geophysical methods like MobileMT highlights Grafton's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to de-risk exploration and prioritize drilling targets. The survey's ability to image structures up to 2 km depth is particularly valuable for identifying porphyry systems, which are often associated with large-scale copper and gold deposits.
This survey represents a key step in Grafton's exploration strategy for the Alicahue Project. The Company is focused on responsible exploration and generating shareholder value through disciplined project advancement.
