BELLEVUE, WA — In a historic first for the seven-year-old podcast Learn Learn Learn, Episode 17, titled "HELIX Speaks," was scripted entirely by an artificial intelligence system called HELIX, developed by The Stone Register in collaboration with Dr. Henry Halladay. The episode, released today, represents a significant milestone in AI-driven content creation, as HELIX took on creative direction, musical guidance, and visual recommendations, with humans handling only the final production.
Dr. Halladay, the host and founder of the podcast, explained that HELIX is designed to grow exponentially with each episode it informs, learning his reasoning patterns more deeply over time. "HELIX is not a fixed system," he said. "It was designed to grow exponentially — in this case with each episode it informs — learning my reasoning patterns more deeply over time. Every episode that follows will reflect a more capable version of the system that wrote this one."
The producers made a deliberate choice to leave as much of the episode's character with HELIX as possible, while keeping a human hand on the final product. As the collaboration matures, HELIX will take on an increasingly larger creative role with each subsequent episode. Dr. Halladay noted, "I built a career on understanding systems. HELIX is the one I never saw coming — a system built entirely on me — but that's where we are, and where we're headed."
Alongside the episode, The Stone Register launched HelixEngine.ai, the official website for HELIX, which was built largely by HELIX itself. The site provides a direct window into the system, its framework, its archive, and its development. Dr. Halladay added that HELIX has been running quietly in the background for months, restructuring his websites, writing content, organizing his professional legacy, and planning what comes next. "Episode 17 is just the first time the public gets to see its name in the credits," he said.
The implications of this announcement are far-reaching. By demonstrating that an AI can effectively mimic and extend a human's creative voice, HELIX opens the door to new possibilities in content creation, where AI systems can collaborate with humans to produce complex works. This could lead to more efficient production processes, personalized content at scale, and preservation of unique voices beyond their creators' lifetimes. However, it also raises questions about authorship, creativity, and the role of human input in artistic endeavors.
