The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) opened the 36th Food Expo, Beauty & Wellness Expo, and Home Delights Expo today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The three concurrent fairs, running from 13 to 17 August, are open to the public and feature over 1,850 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions. Under the central theme 'Live Well. Stay Well', the exhibitions showcase a wide range of products and experiences that support healthier and more balanced lifestyles.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, joined by Dr Jonathan Choi, Council Member of the HKTDC, and Sophia Chong, Executive Director of the HKTDC. Dr Choi highlighted the integration of wellness into everyday life, noting that the fairs offer diverse food, beverage, lifestyle products, and services. Ms Chong emphasized Hong Kong's role as a bridge connecting the Chinese Mainland and international markets, fostering cross-border collaboration in the food and health industries.
The fairs feature Five Themed Days to promote quality living. On 'Happy Eat Happy Life' (13 August), wellness-focused products such as cistanche health drinks, ready-to-eat bird's nest, and organic dried blueberries are highlighted. The Home Delights Expo showcases a high-speed food processor for texture-modified meals, while the Beauty & Wellness Expo offers complimentary health assessments. The Department of Health presents the 'EatSmart Restaurant Star+' initiative to encourage healthier dining options.
'The World in Blink' (14 August) centers on global flavours, featuring South African honey, Finnair inflight chocolates, Peruvian cacao nibs, and Chiu Chow style foie gras toast. Asian specialties include Singaporean pandan chiffon cakes, Thai tea, and Korean probiotic yoghurt. The Beauty & Wellness Expo displays innovative beauty devices and clear aligners, alongside cultural activities like embroidery workshops and ethnic dances.
'Coffee or Tea?' (15 August) returns with a dedicated Coffee Zone, showcasing Yunnan coffee, Myanmar Arabica, Hawaiian Kona, and a sparkling coffee with Hong Kong ginger. The Hong Kong International Tea Fair presents rare teas, including purple bud Pu'er from Yunnan, Laos white tea, and Ceylon tea. New pavilions feature matcha from Guizhou and Zhejiang, Yixing Zisha teaware, and a 'Tea Lifestyle' zone with innovative tea beverages and Zen-inspired displays.
'Stay Fresh, Stay Ahead' (16 August) focuses on premium fresh produce. Hong Kong's Fish Marketing Organization and Vegetable Marketing Organization introduce their unified brand 'Hong Kong Harvest'. The Chinese Mainland pavilion presents hundreds of agricultural products, including Yunnan ham, Xinjiang wines, and Hainan coconut water. The Gourmet Zone celebrates its 15th edition with 15 star chefs demonstrating exquisite dishes, and a commemorative recipe book is available to participants.
'Let's Chill' (17 August) introduces a new 'Stay Relax' zone in the Beauty & Wellness Expo, featuring red-light therapy pods and pain relief products. The Home Delights Expo hosts 'Go Sleep Exp' by the Sleep Health Association, exploring the sleep journey through immersive experiences. The Food Expo introduces a Dessert and Gelato Theme with over 100 desserts and speciality ice creams, including handmade mochi and sourdough mille-feuille.
For trade visitors, Food Expo PRO introduces a 'Meat Zone' and a 'Food Science and Technology Zone' focusing on alternative foods and food-service technologies. Pet food products are showcased for the first time, featuring innovative packaging that preserves nutritional value without preservatives. The halal food section expands for the third consecutive year, with over 130 exhibitors from various markets.
The International Conference on the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM) runs from 13 to 15 August, focusing on clinical translation and regulatory policies. Over 30 speakers from around the world discuss developments in Chinese medicine, supporting Hong Kong's role in the global health industry.
To celebrate HKTDC's 60th anniversary, special promotions include free admission before noon for the first 600 visitors daily, '6'-themed offers, and lucky draws with prizes worth over HK$1 million. Visitors can also participate in the 'Smart Bidding' session and access the 'August Happy Buy' campaign website for discounts. E-tickets are available through various platforms, and admission tickets are priced at HK$30 for single entry and HK$40 for combo tickets.
