The 36th Hong Kong Book Fair, the 9th Sports and Leisure Expo, and the 6th World of Snacks all opened on July 15, 2026, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the three concurrent events offer a combined experience of reading, sports, and snacks with a single ticket, aiming to attract both residents and tourists. The opening ceremony was officiated by Cheuk Wing-hing, Acting Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR government, with Professor Frederick Ma, HKTDC Chairman, delivering welcome remarks.
Professor Ma highlighted the Book Fair's role as a platform for cultural exchange, noting that this year's theme, 'Reading the World: Cultural Legacy | Joyful Journeys,' encourages readers to explore global cultures through literature. He emphasized that the synergy of the three events, with over 770 exhibitors, makes it a highlight of Hong Kong's summer calendar. The Book Fair features eight seminar series, including the Theme of the Year and Renowned Writers series, with speakers such as Cantonese opera star Law Kar-ying and acclaimed novelist Bi Feiyu. The English and International Reading Seminar Series includes the inaugural ASEAN Literary Festival, featuring authors like Eka Kurniawan and Clarissa Goenawan.
The World of Art & Culture exhibition, sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency, showcases over 200 books and exhibits, with interactive installations recommending travel itineraries based on reading preferences. The Sports and Leisure Expo offers diverse activities, including a 35th-anniversary exhibition by the Hong Kong Sports Institute and live sports broadcasts by Now TV. New participants include Turkiye and Korea in the Travel & Tourism zone, alongside returning exhibitors from Thailand. The World of Snacks brings together more than 1,300 snacks from nearly 30 countries, with zones like Chocolate and Sweet Factory and Oldie Snacks, and interactive workshops such as black sesame roll making.
The events run from July 15 to 21, with admission fees of HK$30 for adults and HK$10 for children. Special offers include morning admission tickets for HK$10 and a Super Pass for HK$88, providing unlimited entry. Tourists can purchase concession tickets for HK$20.
