Huawei has officially unveiled the HUAWEI Mate XT 2 | ULTIMATE DESIGN, marking a significant milestone as the first smartphone to incorporate the LogicFolding Tau (τ) Chip, which now enters mass commercialization. This release underscores Huawei's commitment to pushing the boundaries of smartphone technology and design.

The device features a wing-like tri-fold design, opening from both sides for an intuitive experience. Its aesthetic draws on Chinese design philosophy, with a cloud pattern on the back panel using Brocade Cloud craftsmanship. The camera ring, crafted from Yttrium Crystal fired at 1,800°C, undergoes eight steps of polishing to create 33 star diamond facets, giving it a gemstone-like luster. Available in Purple, White, and Black, the phone embodies a blend of elegance and innovation.

Durability and engineering are at the forefront with the Xuanwu Ultra-Durable Tri-Fold Architecture. It is the first tri-fold phone to achieve IP58/59 dust and water resistance. The cover screen uses Xuanwu Kunlun Glass with anti-glare technology, ensuring visibility in direct sunlight. The main screen features a multi-layer composite structure, including UTG glass, aerospace-grade ultra-thin high-strength steel, and carbon fiber support, providing robust impact resistance. The Advanced Precision Hinge System 2.0 uses a 5 curved arm structure and synchronized linkage for even force distribution.

Performance is driven by the Kirin 9050 Pro chip, which delivers a 42% improvement in overall device performance compared to the previous generation. The LinxiCore CPU, combined with the Ultra-smooth HUAWEI Ark Engine, allows faster loading and efficient multitasking. The Maleoon GPU features doubled computing units and cache, supporting 50 MRPS hardware-level real-time ray tracing for immersive gaming. The HUAWEI Da Vinci Architecture NPU enhances on-device AI, natively supporting the Pangu 30B-A2B MoE LLM, enabling features like AI album management with Celia. Advanced cooling, 32 distributed antennas, and support for Tiantong satellite communication and Beidou satellite messaging ensure reliable connectivity anywhere.

The device introduces the industry's first foldable Smart Shield Privacy Screen, providing hardware-level privacy protection through an independent dual-pixel design. It intelligently senses environments, offering reminders in airports or train stations, and can activate privacy mode via double-tap or Smart controls. Additionally, it features ECG analysis software, having obtained NMPA Class II Medical Device Registration, allowing users to take electrocardiograms and receive intelligent interpretations from Celia.

Photography capabilities are elevated with the True-to-Color Camera 3.0, which filters infrared light to improve color reproduction by 95%. The camera system includes an ultra-HDR main camera, ultra-wide aperture periscope telephoto, and ultra-wide angle camera, delivering true-to-life images with excellent performance in various conditions. Video recording supports an ultra-high dynamic range of 18 EV. XMAGE SmartCapture recognizes scenes and provides AIGC real-time previews for composition and lighting suggestions.

Running on HarmonyOS 7, the Mate XT 2 redefines large-screen interaction with Live-Multitask, allowing three windows in parallel with adjustable sizes and independent volume control. It has been deeply adapted to leading industry apps, fostering a robust tri-fold ecosystem.

The HUAWEI Mate XT 2 | ULTIMATE DESIGN starts at RMB 19,999 and goes on sale on September 12. This launch not only showcases Huawei's technological prowess but also signifies a new era in chip commercialization, potentially influencing the broader tech industry. As the first to mass-produce devices with the LogicFolding Tau chip, Huawei is setting a precedent that could accelerate the adoption of this advanced chip technology across various sectors.
