Huawei Unveils Wireless Breakthroughs to Pioneer New Communications Networks

Huawei has unveiled a series of innovation breakthroughs aimed at pioneering new communications networks, marking significant leaps in root technologies that address coverage, energy consumption, and capacity challenges. Announced at Huawei Decoding China 2026 by Fang Xiang, Corporate Vice President and President of Wireless Network Solution, the breakthroughs include RetinaMIMO, new materials, and the OSCAR solution, alongside the launch of the world's first commercial U6 GHz device VitaAAU, the GigaGreen Plus series, and the UBBPi series. The announcement, distributed via Media OutReach Newswire, signals a strategic push to convert cutting-edge research into commercial practices for the intelligent era.

The importance of these developments lies in their potential to reshape mobile network economics and performance as intelligent devices and services proliferate. According to Huawei, new devices are expanding connectivity from people to things and agents, increasing connections by 100 times, while device-cloud synergy for intelligent services demands stronger uplink capabilities. This shifts network focus from downlink dominance to both uplink and downlink, and new interaction modes require ubiquitous steady ultra-low latency with high reliability. By tackling these demands, Huawei's breakthroughs aim to deliver ubiquitous experience, simplified and green networks, and superior spectral efficiency.

RetinaMIMO is designed to solve the challenge of concurrent ultra-high bandwidth and ubiquitous coverage. It features the industry's first Retina scanning system that reconstructs RF link topologies to eliminate coverage collapse in the vertical direction, and a reconstructed antenna array architecture to address diminishing marginal gains as array elements increase. Based on RetinaMIMO, the VitaAAU device widens coverage by about 30% compared with similar products with 1024 antenna elements, enabling U6 GHz to match C-band in both horizontal and vertical directions. This allows operators to deliver U6 GHz coverage on their C-band sites, minimizing overall total cost of ownership. VitaAAU has already seen commercial adoption in the UAE and other markets, with peak downlink speeds exceeding 10 Gbps.

For simplified and green networks, Huawei's EP power amplifier architecture uses new materials and technologies to maximize energy conversion efficiency on higher frequency bands. The industry's first multimode dielectric filters allow antennas to have small dimensions and low power consumption on multi-channel high-frequency networks. These innovations enable the GigaGreen Plus series to achieve significant reductions in dimensions, weight, and power consumption, supporting "0 Bit 0 Watt 0 Loss" energy saving.

To pioneer superior spectral efficiency, Huawei introduces the time scaling of the Tau law to base stations for the first time, realizing optimal dynamic resource scheduling across all domains based on the OSCAR solution. With low-latency bus and high-speed interconnect technology, the new UBBPi series improves average user experience by 1.3 times while reducing power consumption by approximately 40%. Additionally, Huawei's RANSpirit, an industry first, implements single-domain network autonomy based on the telecom foundation model and digital twins, and is already serving more than 1.2 million cells across 25 networks worldwide, assisting over 2,000 engineers. The company is also promoting A2A-T standards and driving commercial open-source OpenAN through extensive partnerships to build an open telecom agent ecosystem, including donations to the Linux Foundation and collaboration via the GSMA industry platform. These breakthroughs collectively lay a foundation for new communications networks, with implications for operators seeking to balance performance, cost, and sustainability.
