Lahontan Gold Corp. (TSXV: LG) (OTCQB: LGCXF) has reported the first assay results from its maiden 2025 reverse-circulation drilling program at the West Santa Fe Project in Nevada's Walker Lane. The drilling intersected a shallow, thick zone of oxide gold and silver mineralization that validates historic drilling data and supports the potential for a disseminated gold-silver system at the project.
Highlights from hole WSF25-06R include 54.9 meters grading 1.00 g/t gold equivalent, including 16.8 meters grading 1.75 g/t gold equivalent. Notably, the intercepts are silver-rich, with individual assays returning up to 176 g/t silver. These results confirm the presence of oxide mineralization at shallow depths, which is amenable to low-cost heap-leach processing methods similar to those used historically at the nearby Santa Fe Mine.
Lahontan Gold's CEO stated that the company is encouraged by these results, as they not only confirm historic drilling but also expand the understanding of the mineralized system at West Santa Fe. The project is located approximately 5 kilometers west of the company's flagship Santa Fe Mine project, which has past production of 359,202 ounces of gold and 702,067 ounces of silver between 1988 and 1995.
The Santa Fe Mine project currently hosts a National Instrument 43-101 compliant Indicated Mineral Resource of 1,539,000 oz Au Eq (48,393,000 tonnes grading 0.92 g/t Au and 7.18 g/t Ag, together grading 0.99 g/t Au Eq) and an Inferred Mineral Resource of 411,000 oz Au Eq (16,760,000 tonnes grading 0.74 g/t Au and 3.25 g/t Ag, together grading 0.76 g/t Au Eq), all pit constrained. The company plans to advance both projects during 2025, including updating the Santa Fe Preliminary Economic Assessment and further drilling at West Santa Fe.
The West Santa Fe drilling results are significant because they demonstrate the potential to add shallow, oxide resources to Lahontan's existing portfolio. The company believes that the West Santa Fe system could provide supplemental feed for a potential future mining operation at Santa Fe, enhancing the overall economics of the project.
