MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) has closed its previously announced private placement, raising approximately C$20.5 million in gross proceeds through the sale of 15,805,624 units at C$1.30 per unit. The financing was led by renowned investor Eric Sprott, with Hampton Securities Limited acting as lead agent and sole bookrunner. The company stated that the proceeds will be used to support the ongoing evaluation and development of its Lawson Natural Hydrogen discovery in Saskatchewan, including analytical testing, resource modeling, seismic acquisition, and additional drilling, as well as for general corporate purposes.
The Lawson discovery, located near Central Butte, Saskatchewan, represents Canada's first-ever subsurface natural hydrogen system confirmed through deep drilling, with data validated by three independent laboratories. MAX Power holds a dominant district-scale land position in Saskatchewan, with approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits and an additional 5.7 million acres under application. This extensive land package covers prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of natural hydrogen, which management believes could be a scalable and clean energy source.
In addition to its natural hydrogen focus, MAX Power holds a portfolio of properties in the United States and Canada focused on critical minerals, including the 100%-owned Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona, where a diamond drilling discovery was made in 2024. The company is committed to responsible exploration and development practices that prioritize environmental stewardship, meaningful community engagement, and strong corporate governance.
The participation of Eric Sprott, a prominent figure in the resource sector, underscores the potential significance of the Lawson project. The funds raised will accelerate the company's work program, which includes detailed resource modeling and seismic surveys to better define the hydrogen accumulation, followed by additional drilling to expand the known system. This announcement highlights the growing interest in natural hydrogen as a potential low-carbon energy source, and MAX Power's progress positions it at the forefront of this emerging sector in Canada.
