MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) has announced a significant expansion of its natural hydrogen permit holdings in Saskatchewan. The company acquired provincial permits covering an additional 660,263 acres, or 2,672 square kilometers, across south-central Saskatchewan, increasing its total permitted holdings by more than 50% to approximately 2 million acres across 12 projects. This move underscores the growing importance of natural hydrogen as a potential clean energy source and MAX Power's strategic positioning in this emerging sector.
The expansion includes the newly named 628-square-kilometer Aurora Project adjoining the existing Lawson project, creating a contiguous 90-kilometer corridor. This corridor is considered highly prospective for multiple natural hydrogen discoveries and commercialization pathways, particularly given its proximity to highway, rail, heavy industry, and emerging artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company also added the Ogema and Kyle projects, expanded the Grasslands Project through the Fox Valley target area, and secured additional permits at Lawson, Radville, and Tribune.
Commercial-validation drilling continues at Lawson Complex #1, which holds the distinction of being Canada’s first confirmed subsurface natural hydrogen system. This system was validated through deep drilling with data confirmed by three independent laboratories. The company, along with independent consultant GLJ Ltd., is currently reviewing data from the newly permitted areas to further assess their potential.
The importance of this expansion lies in the strategic value of natural hydrogen as a clean energy resource. Natural hydrogen, also known as white hydrogen, is naturally occurring and can be extracted with minimal environmental impact compared to traditional hydrogen production methods. MAX Power's dominant district-scale land position in Saskatchewan, now covering about 2 million acres, positions the company to potentially lead in the exploration and development of this resource. The company's commitment to responsible exploration and development practices, including environmental stewardship and community engagement, further enhances its profile in the sector.
MAX Power also maintains a portfolio of critical mineral properties in the United States and Canada, highlighted by a 2024 diamond drilling discovery at the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in Arizona. This diversification adds to the company's overall value proposition. For more details, the full press release is available at https://ibn.fm/wDd3x.
