McEwen Announces COO Retirement and Promotions as It Targets 2030 Production Goals

McEwen Inc. (NYSE: MUX) (TSX: MUX) has announced the planned retirement of Chief Operating Officer William Shaver, who has dedicated more than 55 years to the mining industry, including the past four years at McEwen. Shaver will remain on the board of McEwen Copper, a subsidiary in which McEwen holds a 46.3% stake. The company has simultaneously promoted Channa Kumarage to vice president of operations, Kevin Bromfield to vice president of development projects, and Zahir Jina to vice president of permitting, government relations and sustainability.

These leadership changes come as McEwen intensifies its focus on production, mine construction, and permitting to achieve its ambitious goal of producing 250,000-300,000 gold equivalent ounces annually by 2030. The appointments are strategically aligned with the company's growth objectives, ensuring that key areas of operations, project development, and regulatory affairs are strengthened.

McEwen's portfolio includes gold and silver mines in prolific regions across the Americas, such as the Cortez Trend in Nevada, the Timmins district in Ontario, Flin Flon in Manitoba, and the Deseado Massif in Santa Cruz, Argentina. The company is also reactivating its gold-silver El Gallo Mine in Mexico. Additionally, McEwen holds a significant interest in McEwen Copper, which owns the advanced-stage Los Azules copper project in San Juan, Argentina. The project is designed to be one of the world's first regenerative copper mines and aims to be carbon neutral by 2038. Its Feasibility Study results were announced on October 7, 2025.

The leadership transition is pivotal as McEwen works to enhance profitability and shareholder value. Chairman and Chief Owner Rob McEwen has invested over US$250 million personally and takes a salary of $1 per year, aligning his interests with shareholders. His objective is to build MUX's profitability, share value, and ultimately implement a dividend policy, as he did while building Goldcorp Inc.

With these strategic appointments, McEwen is positioning itself to meet its 2030 production targets while advancing its copper development project. The company's focus on operational excellence and sustainable practices underscores its commitment to long-term growth in the mining sector.
