Monkee's of Fair Oaks Ranch, a locally owned women's boutique, is set to open on August 20 in the Lemon Creek Ranch development near Fair Oaks Ranch and Boerne, Texas. Owner Kelli Hull aims to fill a gap she experienced firsthand: contemporary designer clothing without the lengthy commute to San Antonio. The key to this endeavor is the collective buying power of the Monkee's franchise, which allowed Hull, a first-time store owner, to purchase from major national designers during a recent buying trip to New York City.
"Because we're a franchise, the buying power that the collective franchisees have is fairly significant," Hull said. "It's amazing that someone like myself - my store's not even open yet - was able to walk into the Farm Rio showroom in Manhattan and buy for 2027. Without that buying power, none of this would be possible." Monkee's of Fair Oaks Ranch is store #8 in Texas and #70 nationwide, placing Hull early in a growing brand while providing access to the group's full designer roster from day one.
The boutique will carry a curated mix of household names and emerging labels. Cult-favorite Paige denim and FRAME anchor the contemporary denim and ready-to-wear selection. The brightly colored Malibu label Aviator Nation has already generated excitement among younger shoppers. Dresses and elevated pieces from names like Milly, Shoshanna, and Marie Oliver round out the assortment. Accessories and apparel from Krewe, Oncept, perfectwhitetee, and Pistola are joined by Texas jeweler Christina Greene.
"If you want to wear a basic top, a pair of denim and sneakers during the day, but then you have an event in the evening and you need to put on a cocktail dress, we're your one-stop shop to do all of that," Hull said. Beyond the recognizable brands, the store will feature emerging designers at a range of price points, encouraging discovery. Hull noted that shoppers might come in for a familiar name like Paige but leave having found new favorites.
Curating the assortment involves both passion and data. Hull described a recent in-home preview where a sales rep brought racks of clothing from Dallas, allowing her to personally select pieces for late-fall and holiday 2026. However, the franchise's buyers also use data to guide decisions, helping Hull balance emotional attachment with market demand. "To have a buyer say, 'That's good - let's tiptoe into the water on this brand, make some safe bets, and if everybody loves it, we can get more,' has been phenomenal," she said.
