Monkee's of Fair Oaks Ranch, a veteran-owned women's boutique, has opened in the Lemon Creek Ranch development, bringing contemporary designer clothing to the Fair Oaks Ranch and Boerne communities. The store is the eighth Monkee's location in Texas and approximately the 67th nationally, part of a growing franchise based in North Carolina.
Owner Kelli Hull, a Texas A&M University graduate, returned to Texas after nearly 20 years in Washington, D.C., where she worked in government contracting. She identified a gap in the local market: women in the Hill Country had to drive 45 minutes to San Antonio to find contemporary designer apparel. "It was really apparent to me that we had a fairly substantive gap in the market," Hull said. "If you wanted to wear contemporary designers, there was nowhere to get it in this area."
The boutique leverages the collective buying power of the Monkee's franchise to carry major designer brands in a small, 1,200-square-foot space. "Because we're a franchise, the buying power the franchisees have together is significant," Hull explained. "Someone like me - my store wasn't even open yet - could walk into a major showroom in New York and buy for the season ahead."
Hull emphasizes a personalized shopping experience, aiming to boost customers' confidence. "A lot of women just need someone to say, 'You're beautiful, that looks good on you - but I think we can do even better,'" she said. "It's my solemn vow that I'll never let anyone leave Monkee's of Fair Oaks Ranch in something that doesn't look phenomenal on them." As a veteran-owned business in Military City USA, the boutique also plans to support the military community, with details to be announced.
