Nordex Group Secures 82 MW Wind Orders from EFG Energy Farming Group in Lower Saxony

Nordex Group will supply and install twelve wind turbines for citizen wind projects in Lower Saxony, totaling 82 MW, with long-term service agreements, highlighting the synergy between renewable energy and regional value creation.

Nordex Group Secures 82 MW Wind Orders from EFG Energy Farming Group in Lower Saxony

The Nordex Group has received orders from the EFG Energy Farming Group to supply and install twelve wind turbines across several citizen wind projects in Lower Saxony, Germany. The projects, named “Erlte-Endel” in the district of Vechta and the “Bad Essen” cluster in the district of Osnabrück, together will have an installed capacity of approximately 82 MW. Each contract includes a Premium Service agreement for 20 years, ensuring long-term operational support.

For the “Erlte-Endel” wind farm, Nordex will provide and install five N175/6.X turbines on hybrid towers with a hub height of 179 meters. The “Bad Essen” cluster will feature seven turbines: five N175/6.X units on 179-meter towers and two N163/6.X turbines with a hub height of 164 meters. This cluster comprises four separate wind energy projects: Langewiesen-Nord, Langewiesen-Süd, Rabber Wiesen, and the Wimmerbruch repowering project.

Construction is set to begin with initial infrastructure work at the end of 2026, followed by turbine installation in both areas during 2027. The turbines are expected to be commissioned in spring 2028. The wind farms are developed by the EFG Energy Farming Group and will be operated by landowners and regional citizen wind companies, ensuring local participation and benefits.

Reiner Borgmeyer, Managing Director of EFG Energy-Farming Holding GmbH, emphasized the importance of these projects: “With the wind farms in Erlte-Endel and Bad Essen, we are implementing two projects together with Nordex that demonstrate how wind energy use and regional value creation can go hand in hand. Landowners and community energy companies have been involved from the outset, ensuring that the energy transition remains firmly anchored locally.”

The announcement underscores a growing trend of community-based renewable energy projects in Germany, which are crucial for meeting national climate targets while fostering local economic development. By involving landowners and citizen energy companies, these projects ensure that the benefits of the energy transition are distributed across the region, increasing public acceptance and support for wind power.

The Nordex Group, with a history of commissioning over 64 GW of wind capacity in more than 40 markets since 1985, continues to strengthen its position in the German market. The company's focus on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 MW+ classes aligns with the requirements of regions with limited space and constrained grid capacity. This order further solidifies Nordex's partnership with EFG, a developer known for its collaborative approach with local stakeholders.

The projects also highlight the importance of repowering, as seen in the Wimmerbruch repowering project, which allows for the replacement of older turbines with more efficient models, maximizing energy output while minimizing land use. As Germany accelerates its transition to renewable energy, such initiatives are vital to achieving a sustainable and decentralized energy system.
