The Nordex Group has announced three new orders in the United States, collectively exceeding 480 megawatts (MW). The contracts involve the supply of 81 N163/5.X turbines, with project names and customer identities undisclosed. These orders are set to be delivered according to customer-specific requirements, further solidifying the company's footprint in the U.S. wind energy sector.
Manav Sharma, CEO of Nordex North America, emphasized the significance of these deals. "These new orders reflect once again the trust our customers place in Nordex and in our ability to deliver and service projects reliably and efficiently. We are grateful for that confidence," he stated. Sharma attributed the company's momentum to strong customer partnerships, dedicated execution and service teams, and robust manufacturing capabilities. "Our focus remains on delivering value and supporting our customers' long-term energy goals," he added.
The turbines will be manufactured at Nordex's production facility in Iowa, which underscores the company's commitment to local manufacturing and its ability to meet U.S. demand efficiently. This development comes at a time when the U.S. wind industry is navigating policy shifts and supply chain challenges, making such large-scale orders a positive indicator for the sector.
The significance of these orders extends beyond the immediate capacity addition. They signal sustained investor confidence in wind energy as a reliable and cost-effective power source. With the U.S. aiming to decarbonize its grid and increase renewable energy penetration, orders like these contribute to the nation's energy transition goals. Moreover, they support local economies through manufacturing jobs in Iowa and other regions involved in the supply chain.
The Nordex Group has a long history in the wind industry, having commissioned over 64 GW of wind power capacity across more than 40 markets since 1985. In 2025, the company generated consolidated sales of approximately EUR 7.6 billion and employs over 11,100 people globally. Its manufacturing network includes facilities in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India, and the U.S., with a product portfolio focused on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 MW+ classes. These turbines are designed for markets with limited space and constrained grid capacity, making them well-suited for various U.S. regions.
The new orders also demonstrate the resilience of the wind sector despite economic headwinds. As the U.S. continues to expand its renewable energy infrastructure, partnerships between turbine manufacturers and project developers are crucial. Nordex's ability to secure multiple orders in a competitive market highlights its technological competitiveness and operational excellence.
While the specific projects remain undisclosed, the total capacity of over 480 MW is substantial, enough to power approximately 150,000 average American homes. This capacity addition will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing energy security. Furthermore, the projects are expected to create construction and maintenance jobs, providing economic benefits to local communities.
In summary, Nordex's new U.S. orders underscore the company's strong market position and the growing demand for wind energy in the country. They reflect a positive outlook for the industry and reinforce the role of wind power in America's energy mix. As the company continues to deliver and service these projects, it will play a pivotal role in advancing the nation's clean energy objectives.
