Northgate González Market, a Southern California Hispanic supermarket chain, officially launched its Familia Fútbol campaign on March 18 at the historic Yost Theater in Santa Ana, California, marking the start of a community-wide celebration for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The campaign, which will run through the World Cup Final, aims to honor the culture, food, and passion for soccer that unite Latino families across generations.
At the launch event, guests experienced curated memorabilia, live entertainment including soccer freestylers and mariachi, and interactive moments with the campaign's talent lineup. The event was hosted by former Mexican soccer player Mariano Trujillo and sports journalist Livette Ruvalcaba, bringing together press, content creators, Northgate leadership, vendors, and community members.
The Familia Fútbol campaign features an extraordinary roster of Mexican cultural legends and sports icons. Boxing champion Julio César Chávez represents loyalty and pride; legendary goalkeeper Jorge Campos embodies joy and creativity; luchador El Hijo del Santo symbolizes generational honor; and actress Angélica María serves as the campaign's matriarch. Representing the next generation is Scarlett Camberos, a Mexican women's national team star. The roster also includes iconic figures like Pedro Infante, whose legacy provides nostalgia, alongside soccer legends Paco Palencia, Claudio Suárez, Ramón Morales, Braulio Luna, Francisco “Maza” Rodríguez, and Carlos Hermosillo.
Oscar González, Co-President of Northgate González Market, stated, “Soccer is not just a sport for our families, it is memories, identity, and pride. Familia Fútbol is our way of celebrating this historic World Cup moment through the food, culture, and values that define who we are and who we serve.”
Northgate will bring game-day flavors to life, offering families everything from freshly marinated carne asada and handmade guacamole to aguas frescas and party trays. Throughout the tournament, stores will highlight favorites that turn every match into a shared moment.
The campaign includes a series of activations through June 2026: meet-and-greet events with Julio César Chávez, El Hijo del Santo, and Angélica María; eight Familia Fútbol Fan Fests in Northgate parking lots from April to June; youth soccer clinics led by Mexican legends in partnership with Pixixi; a Mother's Day World Cup Makeover Sweepstakes from April 15 to May 10; and Father's Day Carne Asada events and World Cup Final viewing parties in June.
