ODORUN, a Newport Beach, California-based hardware company, announced it will launch the ANS-01RM, described as the world's first toilet odor extractor, on Kickstarter on July 14, 2026. The cordless, rechargeable device mounts to a standard toilet and extracts odor at the bowl, venting it outside before it reaches the room. The company claims this solves a problem that has persisted for centuries, offering a genuine game changer for bathroom hygiene.
According to ODORUN, current methods like ceiling fans, sprays, and filters are ineffective. Fans dilute odors into the room, sprays mask them with another scent, and filters recirculate the same air. The ANS-01RM captures odor at the source and vents it outside, eliminating the need for masking or recycling. The company states, "Fans spread it. Sprays mask it. Filters recycle it. ODORUN removes it."
Key features include instant freshness without lingering odor, chemical-free operation with zero added health risk, a touchless wave on/off sensor with auto shut-off after 90 seconds, simple DIY-friendly installation, and no need for refills or ongoing costs. ODORUN describes it as a lifetime upgrade for the bathroom. An introduction video is available at the company's website.
Michael Huang, founder of ODORUN, said, "We're a small hardware team, and this product came out of a simple question: why has bathroom odor control barely changed in decades, while almost everything else in the home has gotten smarter? Fans and sprays were never designed to pull odor out of the house at the source. ODORUN is the first product built to actually do it."
The Kickstarter campaign on July 14 will mark the first opportunity for the public to back and pre-order the ANS-01RM. Details and updates are available at www.odorun.com. The company designs source-level odor extraction devices for bathrooms and aims to disrupt traditional odor control methods with this innovative approach.
