Quantum BioPharma Advances LUCID-MS Toward Phase 2 Trials for Multiple Sclerosis

Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) is advancing its proprietary multiple sclerosis therapy candidate, LUCID-MS, into patient-focused clinical studies following favorable Phase 1 results. The company announced that Phase 1 clinical studies in healthy volunteers demonstrated a favorable safety profile and that the therapy was generally well tolerated, supporting advancement into patient-focused studies. In April 2026, Quantum BioPharma submitted an Investigational New Drug (IND) application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for LUCID-MS, paving the way for a planned Phase 2 clinical trial in people living with multiple sclerosis.

The therapy is designed to target demyelination and protection or restoration of myelin integrity, offering a differentiated, potentially first-in-class approach that aims to directly address myelin loss and neurodegeneration, rather than relying solely on immune modulation. The company is also strengthening operational support for the program through a planned partnership with Allucent and engagement with neurological specialists. According to the company, LUCID-MS is a patented new chemical entity shown to prevent and reverse myelin degradation, the underlying mechanism of multiple sclerosis, in preclinical models.

Quantum BioPharma is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to building a portfolio of innovative assets and biotech solutions for the treatment of challenging neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders and alcohol misuse disorders. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc., the company is focused on the research and development of its lead compound, Lucid-MS. The company also invented unbuzzd and spun out its OTC version to a company, Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., led by industry veterans. Quantum BioPharma retains ownership of 19.84% (as of March 31, 2026) of UWI at unbuzzd.com. The agreement with UWI also includes royalty payments of 7% of sales from unbuzzd until payments to Quantum BioPharma total $250 million. Once $250 million is reached, the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. Quantum BioPharma retains 100% of the rights to develop similar product or alternative formulations specifically for pharmaceutical and medical uses.
