Recruitment Operating System (ROS®) has announced the release of its updated and expanded Franchise Recruitment Manual, a resource that brings the industry-leading guide in line with how today's high-performing franchise recruitment teams operate. Created in collaboration with FranMan, the gold standard in professional operating manuals, the updated manual offers the most up-to-date advice for integrating proven recruitment principles with modern recruiting tools and best practices. This marks the first significant update since 2021.
"The fundamentals of great franchise recruitment haven't changed, and we don't want them to," said Art Coley, founder and CEO of ROS®. "What has changed are the tools, data, and technology available to recruiters. Our job is to bring those pieces together without making recruitment more complicated. We want to take an already powerful resource and make it even more relevant to how champion recruiters operate today."
The ROS® Recruiter Manual has long served as a practical framework for franchise sales and development teams, outlining the primary role and responsibilities of recruiters and how best to move candidates through ROS®'s proprietary 8-Step recruitment process. However, the process and pace of franchise recruiting efforts have significantly evolved since the publication's last major update. Accordingly, so has ROS®. Now more than ever, recruiters have access to expanded datasets, AI-driven technologies, and candidate intel that’s much more sophisticated - all at their fingertips. This latest edition combines timeless recruitment principles with the latest tools and best practices.
In compiling these updates, ROS® collaborated with FranMan to oversee the project, organize the expanded content, and develop the next generation of the manual. The updated content includes several key areas: Recruitment Analytics introduces how recruiters can use data and performance metrics to understand their pipeline and make better decisions; Artificial Intelligence incorporates practical best practices for responsible AI use; Recruiter Behaviors & Performance expands beyond scripts to address daily, weekly, and monthly behaviors of high performers, including performance reviews; Different Types of Franchise Buyers provides context for recruiting candidates beyond the traditional individual buyer, including multi-unit, institutional, and portfolio candidates; Candidate Funding strengthens guidance while keeping content focused on timeless best practices; FDD & Recruitment Process Best Practices expands areas for more effective candidate guidance; and Modern Learning & Content Integration explores connections with other ROS® educational resources like ROS Academy™, video, and digital content.
Lennon Coley, VP of Analytics at ROS®, highlighted the role of analytics in the manual: "Historically, we’ve been very clear in our belief that analytics shouldn’t be limited to what you can access in an executive report - the information is far too valuable. We believe recruiters should have a crystal-clear understanding of their own numbers, including how they operate and where best to apply them. What we’ve accomplished by expanding our guidance in the analytics space is tying their importance directly to recruiter behaviors and execution - which represents a significant step forward."
The updated manual advances the recruiting industry’s best practices, policies, operations, and standards. While remaining faithful to bedrock principles, the new additions account for the latest developments in procedures, tools, resources, techniques, and sophisticated candidate behaviors, offering franchise recruitment professionals a holistic approach to continuous improvement.
