The Audrey Saylor Scholarship for Manufacturing is now accepting applications from undergraduate students across the United States who demonstrate a passion for creative problem-solving and technological advancement in modern manufacturing.
Founded by South Dakota business leader Audrey Saylor, this initiative responds to the increasing demand for innovative thinkers in complex supply chains, engineering, and industrial operations. As the manufacturing sector adapts to global market shifts, the scholarship provides both financial assistance and national recognition to students poised to shape the future of American industry.
Audrey Saylor's career path, from educator to co-founder of American Engineered Products (AEP) in 2004, informs the scholarship's mission. Over two decades as Vice President and owner, she guided AEP to become a global leader in specialized metal manufacturing for the casino and video lottery sectors. Now, she leverages that experience in business development and industrial design to support emerging scholars.
"Modern manufacturing relies on continuous adaptation, precision engineering, and bold ideas," Saylor stated. "This scholarship exists to support students who possess the vision and determination to solve real-world industrial challenges."
The scholarship is open to any undergraduate enrolled at an accredited two-year or four-year institution in the U.S., regardless of state residency. Applicants must be pursuing a degree aligned with manufacturing, such as industrial engineering, mechanical design, supply chain management, materials science, or business operations. They must also submit an original essay of 500 to 700 words addressing the official prompt, which asks students to explain how they plan to bring innovative problem-solving or technological advancement to their chosen field, drawing inspiration from Saylor's history of innovation.
Submissions will be evaluated on originality, clarity, and practical application to modern industrial challenges. The selected recipient will receive a one-time grant of $1,000 to support educational expenses. The application deadline is March 15, 2027, and the winner will be announced on April 15, 2027.
