SS Innovations Launches Sri Lanka’s First Robotic Cardiac Surgery Program, Signaling Global Expansion

SS Innovations International Inc. (NASDAQ: SSII) has expanded its global presence with the launch of Sri Lanka’s first robotic cardiac surgery program at Kings Hospital Colombo, using the SSi Mantra 3.0 surgical robotic system. The program’s inaugural procedure—a robotic-assisted left internal mammary artery (LIMA) takedown—was performed by Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, founder and chairman of SS Innovations, alongside Kings Hospital cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Rajitha DeSilva. This development was featured in a recent company video describing the introduction of the program.

According to the video, Kings Hospital has completed more than 25 robotic procedures in just three weeks, demonstrating rapid adoption and early success. This milestone matters because it signifies the growing acceptance of robotic-assisted surgery in new markets and underscores the potential for improved patient outcomes through minimally invasive techniques. For SS Innovations, it represents a strategic inroad into South Asia’s healthcare landscape, where demand for advanced surgical technologies is rising.

The company reported 224 cumulative SSi Mantra installations across 12 countries at the end of the second quarter, indicating a steady expansion of its installed base. This global footprint is critical for building brand credibility and generating recurring revenue through instrument and service contracts. In the second quarter, SS Innovations achieved revenue of $13.9 million, while robotic procedures increased 143% year over year to 2,528. These figures point to rising utilization of the company’s systems, which is essential for long-term profitability and market validation.

The next major corporate milestone is regulatory expansion. SS Innovations is pursuing U.S. FDA clearance and European CE marking for the SSi Mantra system. Success in these endeavors would open doors to the world’s largest healthcare markets, significantly amplifying the company’s growth potential. FDA clearance and CE marking are rigorous processes that require extensive clinical evidence, but they also serve as benchmarks of quality and safety that can accelerate adoption globally.

Investors and industry observers should note that the launch in Sri Lanka is more than a single program; it is a proof point for the SSi Mantra’s versatility and effectiveness in diverse healthcare settings. As robotic surgery becomes more prevalent, SS Innovations is positioning itself as a key player in the sector. The company’s focus on innovation and global expansion could drive substantial value in the coming years.
