ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) today published its 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, highlighting significant progress in responsible scaling amid rising demand from AI-driven workloads. The report shows the Singapore-headquartered global data centre provider achieved 83.2% renewable energy usage, a 70.5% reduction in carbon intensity from its 2021 baseline, and a 41.2% improvement in water usage effectiveness (WUE) from the 2020 baseline. These results position the company to surpass its 2028 carbon intensity target three years early.
Bruno Lopez, President and Group Chief Executive Officer, stated that responsible scaling is a commercial and operational imperative, not just a sustainability commitment. The company integrates ESG considerations into capital allocation, site selection, design, operations, and risk management to support reliable digital infrastructure at scale. Key environmental achievements include a 13.0% improvement in Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) to 1.44 from the 2020 baseline, and 48% of data centres achieving green building certification. The company also reduced absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 15.2% year-on-year. These efforts reflect a disciplined decarbonisation strategy focused on embedding sustainability into design and operation.
On the social front, STT GDC maintained zero work-related fatalities and a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.1 across over 41 million hours worked. The company provided an average of 18 training hours per employee and increased women representation to 21.7%. Talent development initiatives include the DC Power Up programme and partnerships with 10 Institutes of Higher Learning.
Governance achievements include 100% of employees completing anti-corruption training, enhanced enterprise-wide risk management covering climate, cybersecurity, and operational risks, and improved supply chain governance with ESG criteria embedded in procurement. The inaugural Group ESG Summit supported capability building across markets.
As data centre operators face growing expectations to manage energy, water, climate, and cybersecurity risks, STT GDC's 2025 ESG Report underscores a focus on disciplined execution, operational resilience, and long-term performance. The company aims to support the next phase of digital growth, including AI-driven workloads, in a responsible and sustainable way.
