Steyr Motors AG (ISIN AT0000A3FW25), a global leader in customized engines for mission-critical defense and civil applications, announced today the successful completion of its acquisition of 100% of the shares in Danish companies BUKH A/S and SLC Ejendomme ApS. The transaction, which marks a strategic expansion into marine and defense markets, will initially consolidate the BUKH Group from the second quarter of 2026.
Julian Cassutti, CEO of Steyr Motors AG, commented: “With the successful closing of BUKH, we are taking a strategic quantum leap in our marine and defense business. The expansion of our portfolio, access to new markets, and the resulting synergy potential lay the foundation for further international growth.” The acquisition positions Steyr Motors as a full-range provider, extending its engine performance range from 120–300 hp to 24–700 hp, enabling it to offer a nearly complete marine portfolio for the first time.
BUKH brings a leading international specialty in SOLAS-certified engines (Safety of Life at Sea) with a globally established distribution and service network. This integration is expected to significantly increase revenue potential per customer and enhance competitiveness in international tenders. Additionally, Steyr Motors gains substantial scaling effects, including a second European production site that strengthens supply chain resilience and an expanded sales network that accelerates market access in Asia and South America.
Strategically, the acquisition bolsters Steyr Motors’ position in the defense sector, particularly in the growing market for unmanned surface vessels (USVs). The expanded performance range and BUKH’s high-margin, recurring aftermarket business, characterized by high regulatory barriers and long spare parts cycles, are expected to contribute positively to earnings and sustainably strengthen operational profitability and EBIT margin in the coming years.
To ensure a smooth integration, former BUKH owner and CEO Soren Christiansen will remain on BUKH’s Supervisory Board for at least two years. As of April 1, Torben Damberg, a mechanical engineer with extensive industrial experience and former CTO/COO at BUKH, has assumed operational leadership of BUKH. The acquisition is expected to have a positive impact on earnings in the first full year of consolidation.
