Stonegate Initiates Coverage on HyOrc, Highlighting Green Methanol Potential and Commercial Hurdles

Stonegate Capital Partners has initiated coverage on HyOrc Corporation (OTCQB: HYOR), a company focused on converting refuse-derived fuel (RDF) into green methanol. The firm's analysis highlights HyOrc's potential to disrupt the methanol market with a significantly lower production cost, but underscores the critical need for successful commercial-scale operations.

HyOrc targets green methanol production at approximately €350 per tonne, compared to a conventional grey methanol benchmark of about €850 per tonne. This cost advantage, if realized at scale, could position the company favorably in the growing market for sustainable fuels. However, Stonegate notes that HyOrc must still prove these economics in continuous commercial operation. The core equity story, according to Stonegate, is less about broad clean-tech exposure and more about whether HyOrc can convert its pilot and equipment-delivery history into commercial-scale methanol production.

The company plans to ship its fully funded initial 1 tonne per day (TPD) Porto methanol module in September 2026. This module represents the first step toward an 8 TPD facility in Portugal, which Stonegate views as the clearest near-term commercial validation once installed and operated. Successful deployment and operation of this facility would be a pivotal milestone for HyOrc, demonstrating the viability of its technology beyond the pilot stage.

Beyond methanol, HyOrc is developing external-combustion power systems for stationary generation and locomotive retrofits. The delivery of two 500 kW turbine units and a memorandum of understanding with GB Railfreight provide early reference points, although both opportunities remain ahead of full commercial deployment. These initiatives diversify the company's technology portfolio and could open additional revenue streams if successfully commercialized.
