The 52nd HKTDC Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, 17th HKTDC Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, and 24th Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, running through January 15. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the three fairs bring together over 2,600 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions, including first-time participants from Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Norway.
Jenny Koo, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, said the fairs are themed 'New Play for All,' covering play, growth, and creativity. This year's launch of the 'Pop & Play' pavilion, open to both trade buyers and the public, aims to tap into the growing pop toy and collectibles market. The pavilion features around 150 famous local and international IPs, including B.Duck, Hot Toys, and CR7® LIFE, with several launching fair premieres and limited-edition collectibles. Highlights include MOMOLAND's debut dolls, TUTU MOKEY collectible figurines limited to 100 pieces globally, and CM Concepts' Mazinger Z Playing Cards limited to 1,500 sets.
Key product trends emerging from the fairs include pop culture and collectible toys, with the 'Kidult World' in Hall 3E showcasing adult-oriented toys such as NARUTO keychains and Transformers model kits. The new 'Happy Ageing' label helps buyers identify toys for seniors, with over 40 exhibitors offering products like companion plush toys and color-sorting exercises for fine motor skills. Sustainable products are also in focus, with the 'Green Solutions' label adopted by over 400 exhibitors, a 10% increase from 2025. Examples include beach sets made from ocean-bound plastic and FSC-certified baby push walkers.
Educational toys that combine learning and play are driving demand, such as a Canadarm toy for assembling robotic arms and a 2-in-1 digital microscope and telescope. Korean film and TV-related products are a new focus, with items like the 'KPop Demon Hunters' character Derpy and a replica of the Gonggi Tossing Game from 'Squid Game' Season 2. Pinkfong, known for Baby Shark, debuts with an alphabet learning bus.
The 'Pop & Play' pavilion also includes interactive activities, artist sessions, and autograph signings. Renowned artists like b.wing, Kenny Wong, and Steven Choi will share their insights. A seminar on 'Explosive Growth of IP Economy' on January 14 will feature speakers from Alibaba 1688 and Nikopicto Limited. Mascots Ah Pop and Ah Play will appear for photo opportunities, and giant statues from Hot Toys, threezero, and other exhibitors are on display.
The Baby Products Fair has expanded its 'World of Strollers and Gear' and 'ODM Strollers and Gear' zones, hosting around 230 exhibitors. The 'Selection of Europe Pavilion' returns alongside Korean and Hong Kong industry pavilions. Both fairs feature the 'Brand Name Gallery' with over 380 well-known brands.
The Hong Kong International Stationery & School Supplies Fair welcomes exhibitors from New Zealand for the first time, showcasing optical magnifiers. Premium stationery brands like AP, ChungHwa, and Marshmallow offer creative art supplies and gifts.
The Asia Toys & Games Forum, themed 'Empowering the Toy Industry for Global Success,' opens tomorrow with international experts discussing market outlook, IP strategies, and product certification. Other seminars cover toy safety regulations, AI marketing, and modern childcare trends.
Under the EXHIBITION+ model, the fairs combine physical exhibitions with the Click2Match platform for online business meetings, accessible from January 5 to 22. Buyers can use Scan2Match to bookmark exhibitors and engage post-fair.
