The Supervisory Board of Bastei Lubbe AG, a leading independent publishing group in Germany, has appointed Tina Jurgens to the Executive Board as the new Chief Marketing and Sales Officer. She will assume her role on November 1, 2026, succeeding Sandra Dittert, who departed in July 2026 after six years with the company. This appointment signals the company's commitment to strengthening its digital capabilities and expanding its market reach in an increasingly digital publishing landscape.
Tina Jurgens brings a wealth of experience from the digital media sector. Since 2024, she served as Co-CEO of the ZEBRALUTION Group, a major digital distributor for book and audiobook publishers in Germany, where she oversaw operations, digital publishing, podcasts, technology, finance, and human resources. Her journey with ZEBRALUTION began in 2018 as Managing Director, where she established the new business division zebra-audio.net (now ZEBRALUTION Podcast). She was later promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2022. Before ZEBRALUTION, Jurgens held senior positions at renowned media companies, including Suddeutsche Zeitung, Axel Springer, Bayerischer Rundfunk, and BRmedia. With a degree in journalism and communication studies, she started her career in 2004 as a product manager and specialized in audio content marketing and licensing, as well as developing digital business models.
The appointment is a strategic move for Bastei Lubbe AG, which operates in the Prime Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and generates annual revenues exceeding EUR 118 million. The company, known for its high-quality popular entertainment books, audiobooks, and e-books, has been a pioneer in digital media, producing thousands of digital titles distributed through all major channels. Jurgens' expertise in digital business models and audio content is expected to drive the marketing of the company's content and brands, unlocking new growth potential.
Carsten Dentler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, praised Jurgens as a "proven media expert" who combines long-standing content marketing experience with extensive digital expertise. He noted that she is "equally familiar with the traditional book and media business and with digital business models," making her ideally suited to strategically drive forward the marketing of Bastei Lubbe's content and brands. The Supervisory Board also expressed gratitude to Sandra Dittert for her contributions over six successful years, which significantly shaped the publishing group's positive development and profitable growth.
This leadership change comes at a time when the publishing industry is undergoing rapid digital transformation. Bastei Lubbe's focus on community-driven business models and its status as an innovation driver in the industry make Jurgens' appointment particularly significant. Her track record in building digital audio and podcast businesses aligns with Bastei Lubbe's efforts to expand its digital footprint. As the company continues to adapt to changing consumer habits, Jurgens' leadership in marketing and sales will be crucial in leveraging its extensive content portfolio across both traditional and digital platforms.
