Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) announced the expansion of its advisory and leadership teams after receiving a US federal government investment to advance the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP) in northwestern Alaska. The projects are held by Ambler Metals, a 50/50 joint venture with South32 Limited. With permitting and project activity expected to accelerate, Trilogy is strengthening oversight of the joint venture as South32 increases its personnel commitment, while Ambler Metals recruits key management roles to support execution of its 2026 program.
The company also announced the appointment of Egizio Bianchini as strategic advisor and additional management appointments. These moves position Trilogy to advance corporate development initiatives and progress toward closing the US government investment in the UKMP. Trilogy Metals is a metal exploration and development company that holds a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals LLC, which owns 100 percent of the UKMP. On December 19, 2019, South32 exercised its option to form a 50/50 joint venture with Trilogy. The UKMP is located within the Ambler Mining District, one of the richest and most prospective known copper-dominant districts globally. It hosts world-class polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposits containing copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver, as well as carbonate replacement deposits with high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization.
Exploration efforts have focused on two deposits: the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit. Both are situated within a land package spanning approximately 190,929 hectares. Ambler Metals has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., an Alaska Native Corporation, providing a framework for exploration and potential development in cooperation with local communities. Trilogy’s vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer while protecting subsistence livelihoods.
The federal investment and team expansion underscore the strategic importance of the UKMP for domestic mineral supply. As the US seeks to reduce reliance on foreign sources for critical minerals, projects like UKMP gain significance. The appointment of Egizio Bianchini, a seasoned executive with experience in mining and corporate development, is expected to bolster Trilogy’s efforts in advancing the project through permitting and financing stages. Additional management appointments will support the joint venture’s operational readiness for the 2026 program.
Investors are watching Trilogy Metals closely as it navigates the complex permitting landscape in Alaska. The company’s ability to secure federal backing and strengthen its team signals progress in de-risking the project. For ongoing updates, the company’s newsroom is available at https://ibn.fm/TMQ.
