Ucore Rare Metals Inc. (TSX.V: UCU) (OTCQX: UURAF) has expressed support for its partner Hastings Technology Metals, along with Wyloo, in acquiring a fully permitted mixed rare earth chloride production facility in Thailand. The acquisition is expected to accelerate near-term processing of monazite feedstock and strengthen a Western-aligned rare earth supply chain, according to the company.
Ucore stated that the development supports ongoing discussions toward a long-term supply agreement tied to its Louisiana Strategic Metals Complex (SMC). The company is working to integrate upstream supply with midstream processing and rare earth oxide production capabilities. The Thailand facility is seen as a key step in diversifying rare earth processing outside of China, which currently dominates the market.
The announcement comes as Ucore continues to advance its vision of disrupting China's control of the North American rare earth element (REE) supply chain. Through strategic partnerships, Ucore plans to develop heavy and light rare-earth processing facilities in the United States, Canada, and Alaska. The company's 100% controlled Bokan-Dotson Ridge Rare Heavy REE Project in Southeast Alaska remains a long-term development goal.
Ucore's Louisiana SMC is poised to become a critical midstream processing hub, and the Thailand facility acquisition by Hastings and Wyloo is expected to secure upstream feedstock for this complex. The partnership aims to create a vertically integrated supply chain from mining to final oxide production, reducing reliance on Chinese processing.
