Uranium Energy Corp Commences Production at Burke Hollow ISR Project in Texas

Uranium Energy Corp (NYSE American: UEC) has received approval from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and commenced production at its Burke Hollow project in Texas, marking the first new U.S. in-situ recovery (ISR) uranium operation in over a decade. The startup, combined with recent expansion approvals at its Christensen Ranch operations in Wyoming, positions UEC as the only U.S. uranium company with two active ISR hub-and-spoke platforms, as it advances a scalable domestic production strategy supported by a large resource base and growing policy support for the U.S. nuclear fuel supply chain.

According to the company, the Burke Hollow project is a key component of its South Texas hub-and-spoke platform, which includes the fully licensed Hobson Processing Plant. The ISR method is a low-cost, environmentally friendly mining technique that involves injecting a solution into the uranium-bearing aquifer to dissolve the uranium, which is then pumped to the surface for processing. This method minimizes surface disturbance and reduces environmental impact compared to conventional mining.

The commencement of production at Burke Hollow comes at a time of increasing policy support for domestic uranium production. The U.S. government has been taking steps to reduce reliance on foreign uranium, particularly from Russia and its allies, amid geopolitical tensions. In 2024, the U.S. Congress passed legislation banning imports of Russian uranium, a move that is expected to boost demand for domestically produced uranium. UEC is well-positioned to benefit from this shift, as it holds one of the largest physical uranium portfolios in the United States and has a diversified asset base that includes projects in Texas, Wyoming, and Canada.

The company's CEO, Amir Adnani, stated that the Burke Hollow startup represents a significant milestone for UEC and the U.S. uranium industry. He emphasized that the company's focus on ISR technology allows for rapid, low-cost production that can be scaled up or down based on market conditions. The Burke Hollow project is expected to contribute to UEC's overall production capacity, which includes the recently restarted Christensen Ranch operations in Wyoming.

Uranium Energy Corp is America's largest and fastest-growing supplier of uranium needed for nuclear energy. The company operates three hub-and-spoke platforms in South Texas and Wyoming with a combined licensed production capacity of 12.1 million pounds U3O8 per year. These platforms are anchored by licensed central processing plants and served by multiple ISR uranium projects. In addition to its U.S. operations, UEC has a conventional pipeline of high-grade Canadian projects, including the world-class Roughrider project.
