Mark Gordon, partner and broker at Christiania Realty in Vail, Colorado, has been elected President-Elect of the Colorado Association of Realtors (CAR) for 2027-2028. He will assume the role on December 1, 2026, with Brian Anzur of South Metro Denver serving as President and Janet Marlow as Treasurer. The election was decided by CAR's Board of Directors, comprising approximately 120 members from real estate associations across the state.
Gordon's campaign approach centered on one-on-one conversations rather than a traditional platform. He sent handwritten cards to all 120 voters and engaged with members from diverse districts at regional summits and conferences. This method mirrors his tenure on the Vail Town Council from 2005 to 2009, where he prioritized direct constituent interaction.
Gordon cited the industry's current transition as a key motivation for his leadership role. He noted the impact of the National Association of Realtors settlement on MLS structures, the rise of artificial intelligence, brokerage consolidation, and the ongoing affordability crisis. He emphasized organized real estate's ability to effect change, pointing to CAR's successful opposition to a proposed vacancy tax in the Colorado state legislature earlier this year. 'Advocacy works,' Gordon said. 'Realtors working together along with other organizations really can make a huge difference for homeownership and the American dream.'
Gordon's experience in the Vail market, which is cash-driven and constrained by national forest boundaries, offers a unique perspective. He chairs CAR's Insight Advisory Committee, which identifies emerging issues, and serves as a National Association of Realtors director representing small and medium boards. He previously served on the board of the Residential Real Estate Council.
Gordon has spoken about the role of AI in real estate, arguing that agents who use AI to replace human connection will lose ground. 'If every company uses AI without humans, they're all going to be the same,' he said. He also highlighted insurance availability as a pressing challenge, raising the issue with Colorado's U.S. senators during a Washington D.C. trip.
As President-Elect, Gordon will prepare to lead CAR, which represents thousands of Colorado real estate professionals. His path includes roles from Vail Town Council to national director. His work in the Vail luxury market continues through Christiania Realty, where he has spent almost two decades. More information is available at vailcoluxuryhomes.com.
