VERAXA Biotech Initiates Cell Line Development for Lead BiTAC T-Cell Engager Program

VERAXA Biotech AG (NASDAQ: VRXA) today announced the initiation of cell line development for its lead BiTAC(R) T-cell engager (BiTAC(R)-TCE) program, selecting ATUM, a U.S.-based contract research organization specializing in bioengineering and cell line development, to support manufacturing development. The collaboration represents an important development milestone as the candidate advances toward IND/CTA-enabling studies.

ATUM will apply its proprietary Leap-In Transposase(R) technology to generate stable clonal cell lines for VERAXA’s lead therapeutic candidate. This technology is designed to enhance the efficiency and stability of cell line generation, which is critical for producing consistent and scalable quantities of the therapeutic protein for nonclinical and clinical studies. The collaboration supports manufacturing, analytical development, and nonclinical studies required before clinical testing.

VERAXA’s BiTAC(R) platform is designed to improve the selectivity of T-cell engagers, potentially reducing toxicity associated with conventional approaches. By engineering T-cell engagers with enhanced tumor targeting, the platform aims to address limitations in current cancer immunotherapies, particularly on-target off-tumor toxicity. The lead BiTAC(R)-TCE program is the company’s most advanced oncology candidate, targeting a solid tumor indication.

The company recently expanded its research facilities in Heidelberg, Germany, increasing laboratory capacity as multiple oncology programs move toward clinical development. This expansion underscores VERAXA’s commitment to advancing its pipeline of novel cancer therapies. According to the company, the cell line development partnership with ATUM is a key step in preparing the lead candidate for future clinical trials.
