Verizon has announced the availability of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside a new program that allows customers to get the latest iPhone every year without needing to trade in their device. The move signals a shift in how carriers bundle hardware with service plans, emphasizing simplicity and predictable costs over complex trade-in negotiations. The offer is part of Verizon's Simplicity Pro plan, which includes unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband data, 10GB of premium hotspot data, and standard roaming in Canada and Mexico, all for $80 per month after Auto Pay and switch discounts, plus taxes and fees.
Under the new program, customers can get the iPhone 18 Pro today without trading in a device, and return it in good working condition to upgrade to a new model every year. This eliminates a common barrier for consumers who may not have an eligible device to trade in or who find trade-in valuations confusing. The plan also includes zero activation or upgrade fees when enrolled in Verizon Loyalty, plus monthly credits in Verizon Dollars and access to exclusive daily drops and experiences. For those who prefer to trade in, Verizon offers up to $1,200 off a new iPhone with an eligible trade-in and a new line on an eligible myPlan, or up to $1,020 off for existing line upgrades.
The iPhone 18 Pro features a redesigned 48MP Fusion main camera with variable aperture, the most advanced camera Apple has ever created, and is powered by the A20 Pro chip for major breakthroughs in battery life and performance. The iPhone 18 Pro Max offers the biggest jump in battery life in iPhone history. Both models support Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, a completely new version of Siri launching in beta with iOS 27. The eSIM-only design of these models leverages space previously occupied by a physical SIM card to incorporate a larger battery, providing two additional hours of video playback.
Verizon also highlights the iPhone Duo, the first foldable iPhone, with a 7.6-inch internal display and a 5.4-inch external display, powered by the A20 Pro chip. The new Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 feature the most accurate heart rate sensor in a wearable device, with a new Health Sensing System and S11 chip. AirPods 5 offer the industry's best Active Noise Cancellation in an open-ear design, with up to 50 percent more external noise reduction compared to the previous generation.
Customers can preorder the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5 starting September 12 at 8 a.m. ET, with broad availability on September 18. iPhone Duo will be available for preorder starting Friday, October 16. Verizon Business customers can visit the Verizon Business website or contact their account manager to place orders. All new iPhone models will also be available through Visible, StraightTalk, Total Wireless, and Verizon's prepaid service.
This announcement matters because it simplifies the upgrade cycle for consumers, potentially increasing customer loyalty and reducing churn. By removing trade-in requirements for annual upgrades, Verizon lowers the barrier to entry for premium devices and sets a new standard for carrier flexibility. The inclusion of the latest Apple products, such as the foldable iPhone Duo, positions Verizon as a one-stop shop for cutting-edge technology. As competition among carriers intensifies, this move could pressure rivals to offer similar no-trade-in upgrade options, ultimately benefiting consumers with more choices and predictable pricing.
